SadhanaOriental Meditation and Christian Prayer

My experience of Sadhana sessions

“Know Yourself” workshop

Last year, I participated in Sadhana I and II, and this time, I participated in the “Know Yourself” workshop.  This workshop was a fun learning experience from beginning to end like the other two workshops.
All the stories that Fr. Lafont told us were very suggestive to me.  I think it is because I’ve liked psychology since I was a student.
The most unique feature of this workshop is to use our imagination.  I am not good at remembering things in the past, but I could recall them guided by the Father’s words.  The ability to experience my past and future through imagination becomes my strength.
It is fun to share thoughts in a group because I can get helpful hints from others.  This time, I was a little perplexed at feedback from some people in the group, but I could develop self-awareness.  Especially, I remember two impressive occasions.  One is that a participant, who had a certain image about me because of my words and deeds, said, giving me feedback, “I thought you were a kind of person who follows others, but you can do when you need to.”  Another participant told me, “You did not say much at first, but recently you make remarks more often.”  Both comments were much to the point.  I was perplexed because I do not really decide what kind of person one is by first impression.  But helped by the friendly atmosphere of the group, their comments were not very shocking to me, but instead, I could learn something positive.
I was brought up in ease and comfort, but through the Sadhana experience, I came to know what it is to live a true life.  When I become able to have a dialogue with the Spirit someday by applying what I have learned to my daily life, then I will be able to “talk with God” and walk with him, as I hope.  After the Know Yourself workshop, I found myself determined to walk step by step.  (Aichi Prefecture, 40s, female)
