To pray with body (taking a breath)

[20]Delivering our heart to God through body postures

 Longing for God that fills our heart is more revitalized when we adopt carefully-chosen body postures.
 In this chapter, we learn to pray adopting some postures.
☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆
 Observe the sensation of each part of your body for a while.  Do this from head to toe, throughout your entire body.  (4 minutes)

 God touches you through your bodily sensation.  (30 seconds)
 Bodily sensation is a wonderful gift from God.  (30 seconds)

 Feel the sensation on your hands for a while.  (1 minute)

 With you eyes closed, open your hands and put them on your lap slowly.  If you can, feel the sensation on your palm with your palm up.  (2 minutes)

 Since early times, people, especially Israelites, have praised God with the motion of their hands.

 Close your eyes and raise your hands very slowly.  Focus on what kind of heart you want to express to God with the motion of your hands.

 

 

 Put your hands back on your lap again slowly.  (2 minutes)

 With your eyes closed, tilt your head backward and look up.  Feel what kind of heart you are expressing with this posture.

 

 Return to the original posture slowly.  (1 minute)

 

 Stand up slowly with your eyes closed.  Stand with your feet slightly apart and your arms on your sides.  Imagine that you are praying in front of God.  God sees you from above.  Feel that God protects you.

 Extend your arms forward slowly.  Turn your palm upward calmly.  Tilt your head backward and look up.  Do this slowly.  Focus on what heart you are expressing to God through this motion for a while…

 

 Return to the original posture very slowly.  Bring your head back to the original position, and put your hands down slowly.  Feel that you stand in front of God…  (5 minutes)

 Repeat this motion three or four times at your own pace, and express your heart to God…  (5 minutes)

 Now, tilt your head backward and look up without raising your hands.  Do this slowly.  Focus on what kind of heart you are expressing through this motion.  Stay with that heart…

 

 Next, observe the sensation on your face with this motion. 

 While tilting your head backward again, focus again on what thought you are expressing to God…  (3 minutes)

 Bring your head back to the original position.  In the last two minutes, express your heart through your own free motion…  (2 minutes)

 Return to the standing position and finish this prayer.  Open your eyes and sit down.
